Frequently Asked Questions

The majority of Riverfest is FREE!  Most events are open and free to the public. However, the 5k has a race fee and Voyageur canoe race teams are $100/team ($10/person).  You can also purchase delicious treats from food trucks in Tapawingo Park.

Wabash Riverfest is always the second Saturday in July.  The next festival will be Saturday July 11, 2026.

Most events for Riverfest check in at Tapawingo Park. The riverside drawing class will take place on the Riverside promenade, just across the river from Tapawingo Park.  The 5k and Kids Run check-in is on the Pedestrian Bridge, and the route is on the Heritage Trail on the Lafayette-side of the river.

We encourage everyone to ride their bike, walk or take CityBus to participate in Riverfest. The CityBus transfer station is just a few blocks from Riehle Plaza and a short walk to Tapawingo Park.  To plan your route, visit the CityBus website.  There are public bike racks outside the Riverside Skate Rink at Tapawingo Park.

FREE parking is available in the parking garage across the street from Tapawingo Park at the Wabash Landing. You can also park in Lafayette in any of the parking garages for free. All parking in the Lafayette garages is free on the weekends. Festival goers should not park in the CSL Plasma next to Tapawingo Park, there are warning signs that you may be towed.  The end of Brown Street and the Tapawingo parking lot will be blocked off during the festival.

We suggest you bring sunscreen and a refillable water bottle.  Many of the activities at Riverfest are hands-on, so be prepared to get dirty!  If you’d like to relax and listen to the music, you may want a camp chair or comfy blanket to sit on.

All of the booths at Wabash Riverfest are educational booths hosted by nonprofits, government organizations, or community groups working to improve community and environmental health.  We do not have booths with wares for sale, aside from the food trucks.

At the moment, our festival has a few loyal food trucks that come back every year.  You’re welcome reach out to our festival coordinator see if there is an opening:
